We operate
the "Barrett House Attic - Shops of New and Used." Our Attic sells new and
good quality used clothing, accessories, household goods and other items to
help fund our operations year-round. It is partially staffed by volunteers,
and provides employment opportunities for some of the women who participate in
our programs. Make a meaningful contribution to our future simply by cleaning
out your closet or conducting a clothing drive. We encourage you to visit soon!

Donation Policy
Clothing, household items, small appliances, etc.:
Clothing should be clean and ready to wear. Because of health concerns, underwear, socks, and intimate apparel should be freshly washed. We are always in need of career clothing for our clients.
Electronics and/or small household appliances must be in working order.
Household items such as dishes, pots and pans, towels, and sheets are always needed.
Major household appliances:
Because of limited storage and showroom space, we cannot accept carpeting or major household appliances. For pick-up of household appliances, we suggest that you call Boys Appliance at 766-9730. They will charge a
$25 pick-up fee, which they ask you to pay in the form of a donation to a non-profit organization of your choice. We would appreciate if you named the Barrett Foundation, Inc. as that organization. In this way, we will still benefit from your donation.
Furniture/Mattresses:
If you need to schedule a furniture pick-up, please call 246-9244. We cannot use soiled, worn or damaged furniture, as we are not able to transfer it to a disposal site.
Excess donations:
The majority of items received at the Attic are prepared for sale with the proceeds going to our other programs, which serve homeless women and children. Our program participants also benefit from your donations directly, as items may be sent to our shelter for the women's use or they may come to the
Attic to choose what they need. However, from time to time we may not have space or receive items we cannot sell at our
store. It is our policy to try to find other organizations that can make better use of these goods. In this way, we can still honor your wishes to donate to community organizations that serve Albuquerque's needy.
