Experts estimate approximately 20-30% of the adult homeless population suffers from chronic or severe psychiatric disabilities.

Casa Milagro Program Director Sue Hermes (left) working with a clientFounded in 1988, Casa Milagro offers a structured home environment for up to 18 months to help women who have a history of psychiatric disabilities learn to life more independently. In a team-oriented environment, each woman contributes to the well-being of the group. Through extensive case management, we teach and reinforce the value of a healthy lifestyle that includes exercise, nutrition and adherence with medical regimens and drug therapies.

We also link each woman with the community resources she needs to progress toward a healthier, more independent lifestyle. When a woman leaves, she can continue to receive support and encouragement through our After Care program, which includes visitation, art therapy and interaction.
