Our Story

Since 1985, Barrett Foundation has been helping women and children overcome the crippling cycle of homelessness with safe shelter and meaningful supportive services.

Founder Brother Mathias Barrett had a special calling to help those experiencing homelessness and spent his life in service. When he was 16, Mathias entered the Roman Catholic order of the Hospitaller Order of St. John of God (also known as the Do-Good Brothers) and spent the next several years posted in France, Canada, Los Angeles, and Boston before settling in Albuquerque.
